No, you can not watch a blu-ray movie on a regular DVD. (why would they have blu-ray players then?) You can watch regular DVDs on a blu-ray however. No, you do not NEED a high def TV, but it will be a waste of money to have bought one without a HDTV. At the VERY least, you would need to make sure both your TV and the particular blu-ray player have the same variety of AV connection, else you will not even be able to hook them up.
Dj doesn’t have a clue as to what he/she is talking about. Or what is their take on why my blu-ray has HDMI, component, and even S-video outputs?
Blu-ray Disc is completely backwards compatible with your current television and stereo system. But, to play Blu-ray Discs you’ll need a Blu-ray Disc player (just like CD players won’t play DVDs).
